Renewable heat incentive (RHI)The Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) is paid to participants of the scheme who generate and use renewable energy to heat their buildings.

There are two parts to the RHI:

  • Domestic RHI >
    Launched in April 2014 to encourage homeowners, private landlords, social landlords and self-builders to install renewable energy heating systems in place of fossil fuel systems (gas, oil, coal, LPG)

    Launched in November 2011 to encourage industry, businesses and public sector organisations to install renewable energy heating systems in place of fossil fuel systems (gas, oil, coal, LPG)
